Estée Lauder joins the leading Spanish platform in online psychology TherapyChat to promote the emotional well-being of its workers through an agreement in which all its employees, regardless of category, will have access to online therapy sessions.
Thanks to the incorporation of this tool, all of them will be able to access the platform voluntarily and free of charge and enjoy totally anonymous and personalized video calls with a therapist.
Likewise, the collaboration will allow employees to enjoy a monthly session of emotional training in which they will be provided with the necessary techniques to increase their well-being in the work environment.
This benefit joins the long list already promoted by the cosmetics brand, becoming part of its wellness programs, in which it works to enhance the physical and mental potential of the company’s team.
As a result of the crisis unleashed by the coronavirus, mental disorders have increased in the last year to the point that, currently, 1 in 2 people residing in Spain is not able to declare a healthy state of mind, according to data from the latest study conducted by TherapyChat and the company Sigma Dos. Likewise, during the last 12 months, most of the population has experienced feelings such as sadness, anxiety and irritability with a medium frequency, and problems such as anxiety or depression have been the most common alterations for 20% of citizens.
This social context has also had consequences in the workplace and, according to data from the same study, 17.5% of the population currently consider requesting sick leave for issues related to emotional well-being.
Faced with such worrying figures, the need to commit to caring for the emotional well-being of professionals by organizations has become clear in order to improve their quality of life and, consequently, their day-to-day productivity. Citing once more the report on emotional well-being carried out by TherapyChat, 17.3% of the population affirm that they already have some type of help or emotional support in their workplace, while 12.6% state that they are unaware of possible help that they can count on if they need them and, at the same time, 65.7% would positively value their company starting to offer them.
The collaboration of TherapyChat and Estée Lauder wants to be part of the change and respond to this increase in demand by Spanish citizens for emotional support. In the words of María Allende, Human Resources Director of Estée Lauder, “The events that we have witnessed in recent years have sadly caused the rise of emotional problems for many workers. Beyond the benefits that our agreement with TherapyChat will cause in the personal sphere of our employees, through this collaboration we want to contribute to improving their professional environment with the aim that they find the best possible conditions in their jobs. In this sense, for us it has already become just as important to take care of the well-being of our employees as we do of other aspects, since a good emotional state has a direct impact on the happiness of the worker and, therefore, on their productivity”.
Alessandro de Sario, CEO of TherapyChathas stated for his part that “Making the decision to go to a psychologist is considered for many people as a complicated issue due to social prejudices or the cost that is traditionally associated with it. With the progressive awareness of the need to take care of the emotional well-being of employees that Spanish companies are experiencing, both aspects are relegated to the past: on the one hand, access to therapy is democratized, turning it into a benefit that can be accessed by all workers regardless of their category or salary and, at the same time, the care of the mind is normalized. Through this new collaboration with Estée Lauder, TherapyChat reinforces its position as a reference platform for the emotional well-being of companies in Spain with the intention of continuing to contribute to this destigmatization of therapy and continue working to help people achieve their best version”.
