the FPS Finances has answered your questions!

Nicolas Honhon, general counsellor, and Florence Angelici, spokesperson for the FPS Finances, were present in the Sudinfo studio to answer your questions relating to the tax declaration.

Here is a selection of some of the questions posed to our speakers:

I would like to receive my declaration by mail, becoming too old to use MyMinfin. How to do ?

For a person who wants a paper declaration, they can either wait until the end of May to see if it does not arrive or call the contact center at 02/572.57.57.

I have already completed my declaration online since the end of April? Will I be able to touch up earlier than usual?

We cannot give a timing. People who go through accountants, if their declaration is completed before August 31, they will be reimbursed more quickly or will have to pay later. It is a separate incentive. When you fill in alone, there is a good chance that you will be enrolled more quickly but it is not automatic.

How do I get help completing my return?

Since 2020, we have been helping people over the phone. Since this year, we help once more in the offices. 95% of appointments are made over the phone, it’s more comfortable. And for that you have to call 02/575.56.67. Don’t wait too long to make an appointment. The sooner we make an appointment, the better we will be served. If you want a physical appointment, you have to make an appointment too. We have to send back people who sometimes come from far away.

On Tax-On-Web, if the declaration is correct, do we have to confirm it?

The proposal for a simplified declaration must always be checked. There are certain positions for which we do not receive information. Typically, these are babysitters. We’re going to start prefilling but it’s too early. Child care costs, we get money back. It is therefore necessary to complete well. Another piece of information that we don’t have is the accounts abroad. So you have to complete it well. But if everything is correct, there is nothing else to do.

I don’t know where I should declare my second residence in France. Do I still have to declare it as in 2020 or register the new cadastre assigned by Belgium?

The statement has changed a lot. For a building abroad, you have a cadastral income which is also fixed. It will have to be mentioned in code 1106 as if we had a building in Belgium. And a little further down, there is income of foreign origin. We must not forget that this is indeed income of foreign origin.

My son started working at the beginning of October 2021, can I put him as a dependent if he still lives with me.

This year, we developed a tool to find out whether people are dependent or not. It is a tool on MyMinfin. This tool will make it possible to clarify the situation of each of the taxpayers.

If a child moves during the year, what are the conditions for it to still be dependent on the parents?

The condition is that on January 1 of the tax year, you must reside with the parents. So on January 1, 2022 for the declaration that concerns us.

I have been separated since December 2020 and domiciled at home since 2021 but still officially married. I received my declaration with the income of my ex-husband and mine. Should I pay half and he the other half?

The year of the de facto separation, we are still taxable together. So here, officially, it’s 2021. The person can still request a quota calculation from the administration to calculate the part of the tax that concerns them. The good news is that before, it was only a paper statement if we didn’t get along. This year, it can be done separately on Tax-On-Web. Next year it will be two separate statements.
