Webtoon artist Gian 84 (real name Kim Hee-min, 38)) donated all the proceeds from the sale of her first solo exhibition.
On the 24th, Kian84 released the details of the remittance through Instagram, saying, “The net proceeds of the paintings sold for this exhibition have been donated to the Children’s Welfare Association.”
He said, “It is said that it will be used to pay for art education for 15 youths at daycare centers across the country who want to learn art.” He said, “This donation was made with the help of celebrities.”
Kian84 also disclosed the age and support areas of children who will receive art education with their donations.
There were 6 middle school students and 9 high school students.
Gian84 held the ‘1st Solo Exhibition (Subtitle: Full 所有)’ at the Superior Gallery in Gangnam-gu, Seoul from March 25th to April 5th.
In this exhibition, the artist’s new artistic side was shown through 18 new works that combined various materials, including the webtoon character Woo Ki-myung, with pop art.
It showed the process of growing up as an artist, and at the same time showed the artist’s intense worries regarding life, observations and insights into life, and received a warm response.
Gian84 debuted in 2008 with the webtoon ‘Old Byeongga’ and received attention as works such as ‘Fashion King’ and ‘Restoration King’ were huge hits.
After that, he was summoned to the broadcast and appeared in tvN’s ‘Sold Out Plan’ in 2012 and MBC Every1’s ‘Webtoon Hero Tundra Show’ in 2015. For this program, he won the Best Male Award at the 2021 MBC Entertainment Awards.
