Judo presents the UAE with 3 medals in the “Gulf Games”

The cycling team raised its harvest in the third edition of the Gulf Games hosted by the State of Kuwait to 11 medals out of 14, following adding 3 new medals today in the men’s road race for individual and team.

Ahmed Al-Mansoori won the gold medal in the road competition for the men’s individual category 1:49:35, while Youssef Mirza won the bronze medal, Bahrain’s Ahmed Nasser won the silver medal, and our national team, consisting of Youssef Mirza, Ahmed Al-Mansoori, Jaber Al-Mansoori, Khaled Mayouf, Saif Mayouf Al-Kaabi, Walid Al-Naqbi won the team gold in the road race with a time of 5:28:45, and the Bahraini team won second place, and the Kuwaiti team ranked third.
In terms of e-sports competitions, Salem Al-Suwaidi and Ibrahim Al-Hammadi won the silver in the FIFA game, while the Kuwaiti team won the gold and the Omani team won the bronze medal.
On the first day of judo competitions, our national team players were able to gift the UAE 3 colored medals, as Guram Dranashgili won the gold in the under-66 kg weight, following defeating Kuwaiti Issa Al-Marzouq, Saudi Munis Hawsawi and Bahraini Muhammad Nayef.
Saeed Al-Naqbi won the silver medal in the under-73 kg following Bahraini Ramadan Kodjakov won the gold medal, and Ahmed Al-Sumairi won the bronze in the under 60 kg.
The UAE rose to fourth place in the general ranking table with 34 colored medals, 12 gold, 12 silver, and 10 bronze medals. The State of Kuwait continued to strengthen its lead in the table with a total of 62 medals, while the Kingdom of Bahrain came in second place with a total of 48 medals, and Qatar ranked in the position. The third with a total of 39 medals, followed by the Sultanate of Oman in fourth place with a total of 27 medals, and Saudi Arabia in fifth place with 36 medals.
Nasser Al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the Judo and Wrestling Federation, stressed that participation in the Gulf Games in Kuwait comes within the federation’s plan to prepare to participate in the agenda of important forums during the next stage, including the Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be hosted in Konya, Turkey, next August.
He explained that the federation set the goal of participating in the tournament by achieving 4 gold medals in different weights, as it was achieved in the first day’s gold competitions by the player Guram Dranashgili, which heralds the harvest of more medals, not forgetting to mention the silver and bronze medals that were won by Saeed Al-Naqbi and Ahmed Al-Sumairi.
He added: Our national team players entered two camps before the start of the Gulf Games in Georgia and Uzbekistan, with the aim of preparing them in the best possible way and appearing in the desired image during the competitions in all weights.
Our national ice hockey team beat its Saudi counterpart 5-1 at the start of its matches in the group stage, and the team controlled the match in an organized manner, through which it was able to resolve the opening meeting, enhancing its start with a distinguished result, as the official UAE delegation headed by Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi was keen to attend And supporting the team, Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, UAE Ambassador to Kuwait, and Engineer Azza bint Suleiman, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee for Administrative and Financial Affairs, also attended.

In tennis, Abdul Rahman Al-Janahi lost from Saudi Suleiman Al-Qasim in the round of 16 competitions following the latter advanced 6-2, and our national team player tied in the second group 6-4 before the Saudi player decided the match and won the third set 6-4.
In table tennis, our team narrowly lost once morest its Kuwaiti counterpart 2-3 in the team competitions, represented by the young trio Salah Al Balushi, Abdullah Al Balushi and Issa Al Balushi. The team came out of the competition for the first three places following suffering the third defeat in a row.
The “Women’s White” concluded its participation in the futsal competition that was held in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex within the Gulf Games in Kuwait, by losing to its Saudi counterpart four goals to one in the match to determine the third and fourth places.

The first half ended with Saudi Arabia leading with a goal without a response, while Salha Rashid scored the equalizer in the second half, before the Saudi team responded by adding 3 goals to win and get the bronze medal.

UAE hosts Gulf Games

The 95th meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Presidents of the Gulf Olympic Committees approved the establishment of the first edition of the Gulf Junior Sports Games in the UAE next year 2023.
The meeting discussed frameworks of cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan in the sports field and ways to enhance them in the coming period, and many topics that would enhance joint Gulf action in the sports and Olympic fields.
Engineer Azza bint Sulaiman, Assistant Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee for Administrative and Financial Affairs, participated in the meeting, which was chaired by Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz.

Our national ice hockey team will meet its Kuwaiti counterpart in its second match in the tournament, and our national men’s padel tennis team will start its competition once morest the Saudi team.
Our national volleyball team is playing its fourth match with the Omani national team, while our team is playing the singles competition through Salah Al-Din Al-Balushi, who faces his Saudi counterpart Turki Al-Mutairi.
