Goodbye fireflies! Minecraft removes fireflies due to comments from frog lovers – Qooah

Microsoft’s Minecraft recently revealed in its upcoming version 1.19, “The Wild Update,” that it will add a ton of nature-related new content to the game. However, this move was originally intended for players to have more creative space, but because of the fireflies in this update, it was opposed by some frog lovers, and developer Mojang was forced to remove Fireflies from the update. Frog lovers explained that fireflies are poisonous to frogs and cannot be used as food, so it is easy to mislead players.

It is understood that in the 1.19 update of Minecraft, new mangrove biomes and the addition of ancient cities will be ushered in more content. Unsurprisingly, this update is the same as before, with some updates being added to the game early by opting in to the beta version. Mojang added frogs last December. Fireflies were also previously planned to be added to the game as food for frogs through a different update.

In the official fan Q&A video released by Mojang, the developers carefully explained the game to the fans, but some people still asked why the fireflies in the update plan had been quietly deleted, and why they might not be updated as one of the sources of wild food for frogs a part of. Game producer Anna Lundgren answered that when Mojang announced plans to use fireflies as the frog’s main food source, some players and frog lovers immediately contacted the studio to let them know that many fireflies are actually poisonous to frogs.

Therefore, Mojang said that in order to avoid unnecessary disputes and wars of words, he “quietly purchased a bottle of digital insect repellent spray to kill these clever little bugs and save all the frogs.”
