The number of local confirmed diagnoses has been rising steadily. The command center has proposed that “quick screening of positive positive diagnosis by a physician” will be available within a week as soon as possible. In addition to reducing the number of PCR patients and reducing medical capacity, it is also hoped that drugs can be administered as soon as possible to reduce the probability of severe cases. Recently, the command center and experts are also re-developing the criteria for severe cases to effectively reduce the mortality rate.
The doctor carefully asks the patient’s physical condition through the video to assess the condition. As the number of confirmed diagnoses gradually increases, in order to reduce the medical burden, the command center predicts that “quick screening positives will be diagnosed following a doctor’s assessment” as soon as Thursday (May 26) on the road.
Epidemic prevention and emergency clinics and screening stations in major hospitals will also be transformed. The amount of PCR testing will be reduced, and the drug delivery function will be improved, allowing the public to obtain drugs as soon as possible and reducing the probability of moderate and severe cases.
In the past, many patients not only had lung infections, but also had complications. However, due to the strict evaluation criteria for the severe rate, the proportion of severe cases was low, the mortality rate was increased, and the duration of Omicron disease was shortened. The average time from onset to death is 4.2 days. Judging from the proportion, it is 47% within 3 days and 33% within 3 to 7 days. The related fatality rate was regarding 3/10,000 at the beginning, and now 6/10,000. The severe standard is also predicted to be adjusted.
Li Bingying, an infectious disease physician at National Taiwan University, pointed out, “One of the factors is children. Because of the disease in children, if some body can’t stop the virus, he will quickly spread to the whole body, including the brain, so it becomes very explosive. Encephalitis and community infection have increased the number of cases in children, which may also speed up the time of diagnosis and severe death. The elderly are weaker, and the onset will be faster.”
Shi Wenyi, the former deputy director of the Department of Disease Control and Prevention of the Department of Health, believes that to formulate standards, it is necessary to calculate the time from symptomatic to rapid screening, PCR, diagnosis, and medication. What is a reasonable range, and if it exceeds the standard, it must be adjusted quickly.
Shen Zhengnan, a psychiatrist, said that following a quick positive screening and a diagnosis, the black number will be removed, which will lower the Rt value and allow high-risk groups to receive antiviral drug treatment as soon as possible, which will help reduce mortality.
Huang Limin, director of the National Taiwan University Children’s Hospital, said, “Actually, the number of infected people has nothing to do with whether you use a quick positive test or not. The change in the epidemic situation depends on your vaccines and public health measures. You can go wherever you want, just to allow more people to take medicine faster and reduce severe illness and death.”
It remains to be seen whether it can effectively reduce the severity and mortality with the rapid diagnosis of positive medical diagnosis.
