Denmark confirms first case of monkeypox while the Netherlands found 6 cases

Danish serum institute Confirmed the first case of monkeypox in the country. who are returning from the Spanish island of Gran Canaria The patient has mild symptoms and is under home quarantine.

The institute states that monkey pox is an infectious disease in humans and some animals. spread through close contact which patients may have fever, headache, muscle pain Swollen lymph nodes and fatigue. Monkey pox is usually mild and requires no hospitalization.

Magnus Heinike, Danish Minister of Health announced to the press that Danish health authorities do not expect a widespread outbreak. But they are monitoring the situation closely to prepare as much as possible.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control A total of 59 cases of monkeypox and at least 10 suspected cases were reported in the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) member states on Sunday (May 22).

The Dutch National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM) said the number of monkey pox cases in the Netherlands rose to six.

The Netherlands reported its first case of monkeypox on Friday (May 20) by the Institute and the Erasmus University Medical Center. New samples are being analyzed to ensure rapid detection of new patients. and reduce the likelihood of further spreading

The institute said some of the patients had a history of attending the Darkland Festival in Belgium. All of the patients were males who had sex with men. However, this does not indicate that the virus can only be transmitted through sex. or unable to infect other groups of people

The institute urges people with a history of close skin contact with chickenpox patients to self-isolate, such as their partners or people living together. Vaccinations are offered at the Municipal Health Service (GGD) only to people at high risk of infection.
