Cuba. Sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba and the Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos SA, the call for the First International Fair of Medical Tourism and Well-being was held at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, which will take place from October 19 to 23. of 2022 at the Pabexpo fairgrounds in Havana.
This important event, the first of its kind in Cuba, will take place within the framework of the XV Health for All Fair, where the main achievements of Cuban medicine are exhibited.
The 1st International Fair of Medical and Wellness Tourism aims to expose the experiences and advances of health tourism in Cuba aimed at the international market with a view to promoting its development.
In this context, the 1st International Seminar on Medical and Wellness Tourism will also be held, where specialists and professional staff will exchange information on the development of health tourism at a national and international level, addressing issues such as medical tourism marketing models, trends in development of wellness tourism, Covid-19 post-pandemic services, innovations, spas, management models and inclusive and sustainable health tourism, among others.
An important space will be the 2nd International Forum on Foreign Investment in the health sector, a favorable setting to present the portfolio of opportunities aimed at seeking foreign investment in certain services or specialties where Cuba has significant experience and its development is required. An explanation will be offered on the legal norms associated with foreign investment in Cuba and a business round will be held.
Dr. Yamila de Armas Águila, president of the Cuban Medical Services Marketer expressed the conditions that Cuba has for the development of safe tourism and offer medical care with all the necessary conditions. She recognized the work that several medical institutions have developed over the years in the development of health tourism, and that thanks to her work, the country has an important network of services of this type.
Thanks to the work of Cuban scientists, Cuban medicine exposes a series of first level programs that allow improving the quality of life of patients. They include vaccines once morest cancer, vaccines once morest Covid-19, immunological therapies for lung, head and neck cancer, immunological treatments for skin cancer, treatments for wounds and ulcers that are difficult to heal, therapies for vitiligo and psoriasis, just to name a few.
The 1st International Fair of Medical and Wellness Tourism is aimed at professionals in the health and tourism sector, medical institutions, hospitals and clinics, insurers, travel agencies, medical technology providers, carriers and all those linked to health tourism .
Present at the launch were Lic. Antonio Carricarte, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, Lic. Luis Fernando Navarro, deputy minister of Public Health, Dr. Armando Garrido, president of MediCuba, Dr. Yamila de Armas Águila, president of the Cuban Medical Services Marketer, Dr. Ileana Morales, director of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Public Health and María del Carmen Orellana, deputy minister of Tourism. Also present were a representation of doctors and specialists from the main international clinics in the country, pioneers in the development of health tourism.
