The five trustees of the “612 Humanitarian Support Fund”, including artist Ho Yunshi, former bishop Chen Rijun, barrister and former member of Parliament Wu Aiyi, former Lingnan University scholar Xu Baoqiang and imprisoned former member of Parliament He Xiulan, are suspected of petitioning foreign or foreign institutions to punish Hong Kong. The SAR imposed sanctions on the crime of “conspiracy to collude with foreign forces or foreign forces to endanger national security” and was arrested earlier this month in violation of the “Hong Kong National Security Law”. They, together with the fund secretary and member of the Community Association, Shi Chengwei, were each charged with one count of failing to apply for registration or exemption from registration as a society within the specified time limit. The case appeared in the West Kowloon Court this morning (24th).
All six people in the case appeared in court today. They pleaded not guilty. The judge and chief magistrate designated by the National Security Law, Luo Quan, scheduled the case for pre-trial review on August 9 and the trial on September 19. The trial period is expected to be five days. Fang had 19 witnesses and relied on eight hours of footage.
The subpoena charges allege that Chen Rijun, Wu Aiyi, Xu Baoqiang, He Xiulan, Ho Yunshi, and Shi Chengwei were in Hong Kong from July 16, 2019 to October 31, 2021, as a local association of the “612 Humanitarian Support Fund” did not comply with 5(1) of the Societies Ordinance, Chapter 151 of the Laws of Hong Kong, within the time limit specified.
