Awesome case
The trial of the case began on January 10. The prosecution argued before the court that Vismaya would have been constantly harassed for demanding more dowry. The prosecution also produced WhatsApp messages sent to Vismaya’s mother, friend and Kiran’s sister. For the prosecution, 42 witnesses, 120 documents and 12 bribes, including phones, were produced in court. Defendant, however, contended that phone conversations and messages might not be taken as evidence. Kiran Kumar, a Transport Department official, was sacked following a departmental inquiry.
Relatives say Vismaya’s husband Kiran Kumar will receive exemplary punishment. The cross-examination of witnesses will not affect the case. The daughter suffered mental anguish. Kiran Kumar used to beat his daughter in the name of dowry. Even following marriage, Kiran Kumar demanded a dowry of Rs 10 lakh. Amazingly, he sent pictures of his tortured mother to his mother. Vismaya’s mother says that Kiran Kumar’s sister also knows regarding the torture
