Ironically, Queen Elizabeth II (96) is missing from the “Trooping the Color” parade! Troops march from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade on June 2 in honor of the monarch. As “The Telegraph” reports, the monarch will not be present at her birthday parade for the first time.
The Queen has attended since her coronation in 1953. In their place, Prince Charles (73) should attend the military parade. “It’s time for Charles to prove he really is capable of carrying on the Queen’s legacy,” a palace insider told The Sun.
It is unclear which celebrations the Queen is attending
In addition to her birthday, her 70th anniversary will be celebrated in just under two weeks. According to “The Telegraph”, it is still possible for the Queen to be able to take part in at least part of the planned celebrations. So there is also hope that the monarch will traditionally be seen on the palace balcony.
Queen Elizabeth II has repeatedly canceled appointments in recent months. Most recently, her eldest son had to take over her speech at the opening of parliament in London. The reason for the cancellation is her limited mobility. A palace insider told the “Bild”: “I know that she has been spoken to several times regarding using a wheelchair. That is out of the question for her. Prince Philip also refused to the end.” (bsn)
