Siphon Filter will have trophies on PlayStation Plus (and he might not be the only one)

Last March, Sony unveiled its new subscription service, soberly named Playstation Plus, thus retaining the old name. Since then we have learned the return of Siphon Filter through the catalog. But what we didn’t know yet is that the latter will expand our gallery of trophies.

A few days ago, Bend Studio confirmed the information on Twitter by saying that its third-person shooter will have many trophies when it arrives on the PlayStation Plus Premium catalog which will itself land next month on our PS4 and PS5.

However, many gamers wonder how the studio achieved such an incorporation on a PS1 title. Indeed, it must be remembered that the trophy system is only available from the PlayStation 3, so how might a PlayStation 1 game offer this satisfaction to the most complete among us? Well thanks to a feature patented by Sony in March 2021. This is an emulation system that detects certain trigger events in order to award the famous trophies to players. Here is an explanatory diagram which will certainly be much more demonstrative:

Trophies for all PlayStation Plus games?

It is therefore not impossible that, in the future, other games in the PlayStation Plus catalog will also offer trophies by exploiting this system. Information that will undoubtedly delight neophytes and collectors alike. However, if nothing has yet been specified, it is possible that this addition will exclusively concern titles developed by PlayStation studios such as Bend Studio or Naughty Dog. Indeed, we do not yet know if PlayStation is responsible for integrating the trophies internally or if the studios are requisitioned to take care of it. We can assume that this will be at the discretion of each developer if the second option is confirmed. Unfortunately, for the moment we can only speculate on different scenarios.

In the meantime, we invite you to find the different subscription offers as well as official list of games that will be available in the catalog when the new PlayStation Plus arrives next month.
