Ice Hockey World Championship: Switzerland is early in the quarterfinals

The Swiss national ice hockey team is already in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Finland. Thanks go to the Danes, who beat France 3-0. The Slovaks might still catch up with the Swiss, but the team of coach Patrick Fischer won the direct duel with 5:3. Even with the constellation that the Danes finish the group phase with twelve points alongside Switzerland and Slovakia, the ice mates reach the knockout stage because of the direct encounters.

The score for Denmark is opened by Peter Regin, a well-known player in Switzerland. The captain of the Danes, who played for Ambri-Piotta last season, made it 1-0 for the team coached by Heinz Ehlers (formerly of Lausanne and SCL Tigers) in the 17th minute.
