New isolation guidelines established for people positive for COVID-19

The Ministry of Health made the following provisions, according to article No. 2 of Resolution No. 2024, which establish new isolation guidelines for people positive for COVID-19.

Isolation and quarantine measures

People with symptoms of acute respiratory infection and confirmed cases of mild and asymptomatic COVID-19:

  • They must take extreme prevention measures for 10 days.
  • They should avoid contact with vulnerable people.
  • They should not go to work, educational activities or public places during the acute symptomatic period or for 5 days from the date of diagnosis for confirmed asymptomatic COVID-19 cases.

workers

  • No Go to your workplace for 5 days from the date of onset of symptoms or diagnosis in asymptomatic cases, being able to return with clinical improvement for at least 24 hours.
  • Extreme care for 10 days (adequate and permanent use of a mask; adequate ventilation of environments; hand washing and respiratory hygiene).

residents

  • In case of being positive for COVID-19, strict clinical follow-up and follow-up of close contacts will be indicated according to protocol.

For the general population it is recommended:

  • Use of chinstraps in interior spaces, including work, educational, and social settings.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation of environments
  • Frequent hand washing
  • Not going to work, social, cultural, educational activities in the presence of symptoms
