Naglaa Fathi, the beautiful face, and the heart that those close to her described as not very different from her face, married at the beginning of her life to the artist Seif Abu Al-Naga, and gave birth to his only daughter, Yasmine, and they separated following five years.
In a rare and old meeting with the Egyptian journalist Mofeed Fawzy, Najla Fathi spoke regarding the reasons for her divorce, and the father of her daughter also spoke regarding his opinion of her, so what did they say?
Najlaa Fathi said that she married Seif Abu al-Naga, a quick marriage without engagement or a sufficient period of acquaintance, and following years and deep thought, the duo concluded that divorce is the only solution to this marriage.
Naglaa Fathi explained that she differed with her husband in many details, “Ah, trivial details, but they are many details … it is life.”
And Naglaa Fathi continued: “We used to disagree even regarding the cinema’s release. If I chose one, he chose another, and so it became impossible for ten.”
She stated that she separated from her husband when she was only 25 years old, while her daughter Yasmine was in her first year.
And regarding facing the world following the separation, Najla Fathi confirmed that her mother was the main support for her following this divorce, noting that she did not regret this decision at any time.
“I got divorced, but I gained an important need, I earned the affection and mercy that was preferred between us, a brother and a friend who resorted to him all the time.”
For his part, Saif Abul-Naga was present at the same meeting with Moufid Fawzy, who asked him a question regarding his opinion of Naglaa Fathi.
Saif Abul-Naga replied, “Najla Fathi, the artist, is not very different from Fatima al-Zahra, whom we all know and deal with.”
Naglaa Fathi’s ex-wife described her character as “a kind, gracious artist and a simple, humble person that we know in this way.”
On the other hand, Saif Abul-Naga confirmed what Naglaa Fathi said that divorce was a formal matter, but the truth is that affection remains and human relations are fine.
She explained that there is a sad look, resulting from some fears and anxiety caused by her daughter Yasmine, who is missing a room in the heart.
Naglaa Fathi said that since her daughter underwent a heart operation, she has been living in a state of anxiety and fear to the point that she fell to the ground and might not stand once more from her shock and fear.
Najlaa Fathi added that her daughter had been crying like all children since birth, but her limbs and lips were colored blue, and they did not discover that she needed surgery until a year following her birth, noting that it was a painful memory that cried when she remembered.
Najla Fathi confirmed that as soon as she learned of the doctor’s decision regarding her daughter’s operation, she was thinking of committing suicide and took this step seriously.
Najlaa Fathi added that she stood at the window overlooking the street, and looked with horrible despair and almost threw herself out of the window on the ground, but her mother intervened at the last moment.
Fathi continued: “I looked out of the window with a look of despair, but my mother came to me from behind and said to me, Zahra, you want your daughter, right? I also want my daughter, I understood what was on my mind in one moment.”
