Abdeljalil meets his German, Swiss, British and Israeli counterparts

“The talks focused on examining ways and means to consolidate bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and logistics,” Mr. Abdeljalil told MAP, highlighting the fruitful exchanges and constructive with his counterparts at this summit. The work of the summit of the International Transport Forum, organized under the theme “transport for inclusive societies”, began on Wednesday in Leipzig under the chairmanship of Morocco, whose efforts at the head of the Forum have been highly praised.

It should be recalled that Morocco, as the first Arab and African country to have joined the FIT in 2015, was entrusted with the presidency of the Forum under the 2021-2022 mandate, in view of the efforts and projects carried out by the Kingdom in the field of transport and its geostrategic position both regionally and continentally.

This conclave brought together around 800 delegates, including Ministers of Transport, heads of companies and international organisations, parliamentarians, decision-makers, representatives of professional associations and researchers, who came to Leipzig to discuss topics of global strategic importance in relation to all modes of transport and mobility. The summit, in which Morocco participated with a large delegation including officials from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, and public establishments operating in the sector, was marked by ministerial sessions, round tables and conferences on, among others, on road safety, transport and climate change, transport inclusion and the future of supply chains.

The discussions allowed participants to share expertise and experiences in these areas.

In addition, Mr. Abdeljalil chaired Thursday the 14th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the FIT, marked by the accession of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Forum as the 64th member country of the organization, and the re-election of Young Tae Kim as as Secretary General of the FIT for a second term, “a choice that reflects the confidence that all countries have in his person”, underlined Mr. Abdeljalil during a press conference devoted to the presentation of the conclusions of the meeting.

On the other hand, the chairmanship of the FIT was handed over from Morocco to the United Kingdom.
