[London joint]Finnish state gas company Gasum announced on the 20th that the supply of natural gas from Russia will stop on the morning of the 21st (the followingnoon of the same day Japan time). Finland has applied for membership in the US-Europe military alliance, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), on the 18th, and there is a possibility of Russia’s retaliation measures.
Russia demands that “unfriendly countries” such as Europe pay for gas in the Russian currency ruble in late March. Finland has shown a willingness to refuse. A Russian power company also announced on the 13th that it will stop supplying electricity to Finland because of unpaid payments.
