The CEO of WOM, Christopher Laska, announced his departure from the company with the aim of taking on new projects, thus culminating four years of management at the firm. The company appointed Sebastián Precht, who served as CMO, in his place.
During Laska’s period at the head of the company, WOM exceeded 7 million clients -from 4.3 million upon arrival-, expanded its products with WOM TV and WOM Fibra and was awarded the National Fiber Optic projects and 5G deployment, positioning itself as the operator with the most spectrum acquired in the last tender during 2021. In addition, in his management, the executive launched the company in the international capital markets.
Through a statement, the company’s board thanked Laska for his contribution to the company, “especially during the last two years in which he has successfully led the company during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
Following the announcement of the executive’s departure, WOM appointed Sebastián Precht as the new CEO, a position that will become effective since May 20 this year.
To date, Precht – who has been in the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years – worked as CMO, a position from which he led the company’s Marketing team.
Before his departure, the outgoing CEO, Christopher Laska, commented that “I am very happy and proud of the work done over the years, having been able to lead a unique work culture and with such good results. I believe that WOM is in the best position to take the next step, in the midst of the great deployment of the 5G network and the FON project, projects that will strengthen the company’s role with consumers. I am confident that the tremendous team at Womers will continue to take the company even higher, adding new milestones for WOM.”
For his part, Sebastián Precht said that “I am very grateful for Chris’s work over the years and I take on the challenge with the greatest enthusiasm, but also with great responsibility and high expectations.”
