World Women’s Boxing Championship: India wins gold

India wins gold at Women’s World Boxing Championships Nikhat Sareen won the gold medal by defeating Jitpong Juthamas of Thailand in the 52 kg category final. The 25-year-old from Nizamabad, Telangana won 5-0. With this, Nikhat became the fifth Indian woman boxer to win the World Cup.

The 25-year-old Nikhat won the gold medal by defeating Thai boxer Jitpong Jutamas 5-0 in a one-sided match. Nikhat Sareen advanced to the semi-finals following defeating Caroline de Almeida of Brazil. Six – time world champions MC Mary Kom, Saritha Devi, Jenny RL and Lekha C are the only Indian women boxers to have won the World Cup.

Nikhat Sareen is a consistent performer. Nikhat also won a bronze medal at the 2019 Asian Championships. Nikhat Sareen, who recently won a medal at the Strandja Memorial, became the first Indian to win two golds here.
