Lula da Silva’s wedding: banned cell phones, the costs of the party and an Argentine red wine

RIO DE JANEIRO.- In the midst of his campaign in the race for the residence of Brazil, the former president and candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will stop on the political agenda, this Wednesday, to celebrate his marriage to the sociologist Rosângela da Silva, known as Janja. Both made publications on their social networks to celebrate the union that will take place in São Paulo.

Lula published a video in which he speaks at various political events that he is “in love”, and Janja published a romantic message for her future husband. “No one happier than you and me. Today is the day to celebrate our love. May the wind bless us and take all evil from us!” .

This is what is known regarding tonight’s party.

Minutes following 7:30 p.m., a photo of the bride in her stunning white dress spread on the networks. The capture, according to her reports, is from the PT photographer, Ricardo Stuckert. In the image you can see the sociologist modeling the embroidered garment on a helipad of a São Paulo tower.

Lula and Janja set the criteria for the guests to have a friendly relationship with the couple. Initially with 150 people, the final list exceeded 200. Historical supporters of the Workers’ Party (PT), such as former minister Zé Dirceu, and names from the leadership of Lula’s campaign, such as coordinator José Guimarães, were left out.

Guests such as the couple of Chico Buarque and Carol Proner have already informed the couple that they will not attend because they are in Europe. Other artists, like Daniela Mercury and her wife, Malu Verçosa, confirmed their presenceas well as the chef Bela Gil. The bride and groom also made sure to invite all employees and security guards who work around the couple.

Cell phones will be banned, both from event staff and guests. The recommendation of the invitation is that people stay “away from cell phones” at the party. There will be a space for people to leave their devices before entering the event. Taking photos on site will also not be allowed.

The details of the party were organized by Janja herself. The wedding will follow the traditional rite in which the bride and groom spend the day preparing in separate places to meet at party time.

For the party, the couple chose the Brazilian sparkling wine Cave Geisse Brut, which costs around 130 reais (regarding $26). The alcoholic menu will also have white wine Freixenet Sauvignonat a cost of 60 reais (12 dollars) a bottle, Argentinian red wine Perro Callejero Blend Malbecfrom around of 80 reais (16 dollars) the unit, in addition to Heineken beer.

Lula’s press office stated that the couple will finance the event with their own resources, but did not report the amount to be spent. The journalist Leo Dias even published in his column on the Metropoles website that the event would cost more than 100,000 reais (just over 20,000 dollars). The former president’s team simply said that “it will not cost all that.”

Lula does not have a written speech for her wedding ceremony, so she will improvise, while Janja prepared her vowsreported columnist Bela Megale.

The couple will not go on a honeymoon trip. yesThey should only take a few days off following the party in São Paulo, and then Lula will resume his campaign schedule.
