Formula 1: Reducing the number of races this season

The organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship have announced a reduction in the number of races this season, without adding an alternative race to the Russian Grand Prix.

The organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship announced today, Wednesday, that the number of races for the current season will be reduced to 22, instead of 23.

The statement indicated that 22 races have been approved for the current season, following the Russian Grand Prix, which was scheduled for next September, was canceled due to the war in Ukraine.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc leads the overall standings for the current season with 104 points, while Red Bull driver and last season’s champion Max Verstappen slipped him with 85 points, while Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is far from the first places and is satisfied with sixth place with 36 points. Because of the mechanical problems suffered by the German team’s cars.
