“The lights are green in Occitania” for ARS Occitanie. We take stock of the health situation.
The weekly update from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Occitania confirms the strong decline of the virus in the region. “The lights are green”, while the incidence rate is in free fall but the number of people hospitalized is also decreasing.
For the first time in several months, Aveyron no longer has anyone in intensive care or critical care. As of Tuesday May 17, 85 Covid-19 patients were still hospitalized in the department. Across the region, 1,500 people are being treated in hospital, a decrease of -111 people compared to last week.
The situation, department by department
We had not seen such a low incidence rate since the fifth wave of Covid-19, which started in December with the Omicron variant. Aveyron today has an average rate of 266.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, which had not happened since the week of November 16 to 22, 2021, according to data from Public Health France.

- Lozère: 233.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 373.6 last week)
- Gard: 242.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 308.2 last week)
- Tarn-et-Garonne: 245.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 321.4 last week)
- Hautes-Pyrénées: 246.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 383.1 last week)
- Gers: 254.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 366.8 last week)
- Hérault: 267.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 353.4 last week)
- Haute-Garonne: 275.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 368.3 last week)
- Pyrénées-Orientales: 277.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 399 last week)
- Aude: 308 cases per 100,000 inhabitants ( once morest 385.8 last week)
- Ariège: 355.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (compared to 427.8 last week)
ARS Occitanie recalls that “the mask remains an effective tool to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, in the same way as other barrier gestures such as regular ventilation of closed places or frequent hand washing”. The right gestures are still relevant to ensure that the virus does not start to rise once more.
