‘The Qutub Minar was built by King Vikramaditya to observe the sun’; New argument | Qutab Minar

New Delhi: A former official of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has claimed that the historic Qutub Minar was built by King Vikramaditya. Dharamveer Sharma, a former ASI regional director, claims that the Qutub Minar was built by King Vikramaditya in the 5th century to study the direction of the sun. Dharamveer says he has clear evidence of this.

‘The Qutub Minar tower has a 25-inch slope. This is because it was made to observe the sun. On June 21, there is no shadow in that area for at least half an hour between sunsets. This is science and archeology, ”says Dharamveer Sharma. He said he had surveyed the Qutub Minar several times as part of the ASI.

Qutub Minar is an independent building. It has nothing to do with the nearby mosque. Even the door to the Qutub Minar faces north. The former ASI official claims that this is to see the polar star in the night sky.

Activists of organizations such as the United Hindu Front, the Rashtravadi Shiv Sena and the Mahakal Manava Seva, chanted the Hanuman Chalisa in front of the tower last week, demanding that the Qutub Minar be renamed the ‘Vishnu Pillar’. They were taken into police custody.

The court had rejected a petition seeking restoration of Hindu-Jain idols at the Qutub Minar compound and freedom of worship.
