NBA: Orlando Magic win draft lottery in NBA

The Orlando Magic get to pick first place in this year’s annual talent selection for the North American professional basketball league NBA.

That was the result of the so-called draft lottery in Chicago.

Orlando, the team of German Wagner brothers Moritz and Franz, is in a state of upheaval, ending the season with the second-worst record in the league with just 22 wins in 82 games. With Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs, the Magic had already been able to select two players early last year.

It’s the fourth time the team has had the first draft pick for Orlando. In 1992, the Magic picked Shaquille O’Neal, the following year they traded number one pick Chris Webber for Penny Hardaway, and in 2004 they chose Dwight Howard.

German international Justus Hollatz from the Hamburg Towers and Kay Bruhnke from medi Bayreuth have signed up for the draft on June 23rd. Due to their age, they can still withdraw in June. From college, Collin Welp, son of the German European champion Chris Welp who died in 2015, is also hoping for the early jump into the NBA.
