Since April 11 and the 4.5.5.1 update of the Freebox server, many subscribers have noticed a loss of WiFi speed, which has sometimes been divided by two or three. More than a month later, Free corrects the situation.
For 5 weeks, feedback has multiplied among subscribers, in particular on the Freebox Delta. The observation is the same for everyone, their WiFi speed was suddenly reduced significantly. “Since yesterday’s update, I have my 5 GHz speed on the 160 MHz band which is limited to 300 Mbits/s once morest 950 Mbits/s until now. So I switched to the 80 Mhz band while waiting and I have a speed of 550 Mbits/s”quickly challenged a Freenaut on the operator’s bugtracker, with no response.

Even more annoying, four Freebox Server updates were subsequently deployed by the operator, without mention of a resolution to this problem. What arouse a certain expectation and misunderstanding on social networks.
Hello, it’s a shame that the bug that restricts wifi in the 160 Mhz band to around 300 Mbps is still present. Before the 4.5. since the maj it is restrained, it caps at 300 Mbps. @free

Identified by the developers of Free, this concern for reducing the WiFi speed limited to 500Mbit/s instead of 1Gbit/s when the bandwidth is configured at 160Mhz, has obviously given the operator a hard time. Since we had to wait until May 16 and a new firmware 4.5.8so that the problem is finally solved.
