Deadly boxing match in Garching | BR24

The police arrived with special units at a boxing match in Garching (Munich district) to enable medical care for an injured boxer. According to the police, following the boxer received a blow to the head during the fight and lost consciousness, the rescue service present wanted to take care of the 38-year-old. Around fifty emotionally charged fans then began to harass and disturb the paramedics. Only following more than fifteen patrols and a special police unit had arrived and secured the treatment area were the rescue workers able to treat the boxer undisturbed.

Fans don’t rest

But a short time later the scene repeated itself: When the boxer was driven to a nearby hospital, around thirty angry fans followed the ambulance and once more disturbed the rescue workers. Again, a large contingent of police had to intervene and look following the situation. The police are investigating the background.

Boxer dies in hospital

As reported by the police, the boxer had lost consciousness in the ring. The light heavyweight died in hospital on Sunday followingnoon (05/15/22). It was initially unclear whether the delayed rescue measures were responsible for the later death of the 38-year-old.
