The Medical College of Zulia (Comezu) expressed his concern regarding the calls for training in specialties y sub specialties made by the Ministry of Health that, as they explain, do not meet the requirements demanded by the Venezuelan Medical Federation.
“With deep concern we observe, how from the Ministry of Health Doctors are summoned to “train” them in specialties and subspecialties, without meeting the requirements demanded by the Venezuelan Medical Federation (…), pretending to title specialists to ‘colleagues’ who are not prepared for this special exercise,” said the organization in a statement released this Sunday, May 15.
The union organization urged the Minister of Health, Magaly Gutiérrez Viñaa rectify this type of study and convene the Faculties of Medicine of the autonomous universities. This to agree on third and fourth level training plans “according to the priorities that they are held according to the management of government statistics and plans.”

Comezu warned health professionals who are under this modality that they may not be recognized as specialists by this institution.
“Venezuelan Medicine is recognized and respected in the scientific world by the rigor that is required for the training of Physicians and in the different specialties, since in addition to complying with international formalities, they are the best guarantee of the scientific quality of the graduates of these programs”, the statement closes.
At the beginning of the month, the Public Ministry (MP) reported that they have detected a large number of false health professionals practicing medicine illegally, as well as cases of medical negligence that have caused serious consequences, in people and animals. In so far this year 65 investigations have been initiated for these crimes.
The first of them, according to the statements offered by the prosecutor, is José Daniel López, who was usurping functions in General Medicine and Gynecology.
