In the Swiss group at the Worlds, the French beat Kazakhstan and the Canadians won easily once morest Italy.
The France team has its first success at the World Cup. Trailing since the fifth minute of play, the Blues turned the tide to beat Kazakhstan 2-1 on Sunday in Helsinki. Columbus Blue Jackets striker Alexandre Texier equalized in the 33rd minute (1-1). Rouen defender Florian Chakiachvili then scored the winning goal for the Blues on the numerical superiority (40th, 2-1). Lausanne HC striker Tim Bozon was credited with an assist on this second French success.
For the selection of Philippe Bozon, a victory once morest Kazakhstan was imperative in order to remain in the world elite. At the opening of the tournament on Friday, the French selection – it replaces Russia, excluded from the World Championship – lost 4-2 once morest Slovakia. Sweden beat the Czechs

However, Canada took the lead by scoring three times in the second period to secure a victory that was as easy as it was logical.
In Group B in Tampere, Norway won 4-3 on penalties once morest Great Britain, while the USA got the last laugh once morest Austria thanks to an overtime goal from Luke Hughes in the 64th minute (3-2). The Austrians, however, led 2-0 in the 35th minute.
In the evening, the clash between Swedes and Czechs turned to the advantage of Johan Garpenlöv’s players 5-3 (1-1 3-1 1-1). It was in the second period that Sweden made the difference by taking the score from 1-1 to 4-1 in six minutes (23rd, 26th and 29th). In this group Finland and Sweden are the only teams with six points from two matches.
