A total lunar eclipse will be visible in the skies of Quebec on the night of May 15 to 16.
This phenomenon occurs when the Moon passes through the shadow of the Earth. No longer illuminated by the sun, the Moon then seems to disappear for a few minutes.
The eclipse will occur between 10:29 p.m. Sunday evening and 1:55 a.m. Monday morning, according to the Montreal Planetarium Astronomical Society.
Montrealers will be able to observe the Moon looking south, 24 degrees above the horizon.
Obviously, the sky will have to be clear for the phenomenon to be visible.
Environment Canada unfortunately predicts cloudy weather with a risk of thunderstorms over part of the province.
In Montreal, fog patches might even form following midnight.
