The situation draws the attention of the authorities and residents of the area, as it is the second time that an air incident has occurred in the week. Last Wednesday, May 11, a passenger with no flight experience managed to land a plane at a Florida airport, in the southeastern United States, following the pilot suffered a health problem, several local media reported on Wednesday.

The unwitting pilot, the only passenger, had the help of an air traffic controller who guided his steps to his landing at Palm Beach International Airport, regarding 110 km north of Miami, NBC reported.

Staff at the Port Pierce air traffic control tower, north of Palm Beach, received an emergency call regarding noon Tuesday from a single-engine Cessna 208.

“I have a serious situation here. My pilot is unconscious. I have no idea how to fly the plane,” the passenger said, according to a recording of the call cited by NBC.

When asked by the air traffic controller what his position was, the man in the plane replied that he had no idea.

“I see the coast of Florida in front of me and I have no idea,” he said.

The controller asked his interlocutor to keep the “wings level” of the plane and only try to “follow the coast, either north or south.”

The plane touched down minutes later with advice received from the control tower.

“The plane landed without incident and a patient was transported to a local hospital,” Palm Beach County Fire Department said in a statement.
