The able film star Nabila Obeid recorded many immortal films in her career, and she is now preparing to reveal all her details in a book written by researcher and film historian Mahmoud Qassem.
The credit for discovering Nabila Obeid’s talent goes to director Atef Salem, who presented her in one of his films in a silent secondary role.
The star, who was famous for her unique beauty at the time, won the first starring roles in her career in 1963 in the movie “Rabaa Al-Adawiya” directed by Niazi Mustafa, and achieved wide fame in the Arab world from the mid-1970s until the end of the 1990s.
The Egyptian actress, Nabila Obeid, was associated with the late director Atef Salem, at the beginning of her artistic life, despite his being regarding 40 years older than her.
Nabila Obeid told regarding the first situation that brought them together during the “Najm Al Arab” program, and she was a first-year secondary student when she met him next to the school.
At the time, she told him that she loved acting, and indeed he tested her in a small role until he traveled outside Egypt, and upon his return, he found that she had signed a contract for 3 films.
She added: “I separated from him following a contract came to her for two films, one of which was the movie “Rabaa Al-Adawiya”, which was not welcomed by Atef Salem, and at that time I realized that the great age difference between them will show more and more negative effects as he gets older, and she tried to show him the extent of the sacrifice that he made. She sacrificed her in order to be associated with him, and it was only that he threw a glass of water in her face, and had it not been for God’s care, an unfortunate event would have happened.
She was honored with an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Wales for her overall work, and the public nicknamed her “Egypt’s First Star”. Her last screen appearance was in the series “Sukar Ziyada” alongside Nadia Al-Jundi, Hala Sedky and Samiha Ayoub.
