The Quebec police issued a total of 100 statements of offense related to various misconduct during its operation “Noise disrupteurs”, Friday evening.
The patrollers had positioned themselves on boulevard Champlain, along the river, and on Grande Allée, between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Of the hundred fines issued, 15 were given for non-compliant exhaust systems and five others related to the new municipal excessive noise by-law.
The rest of the 80 individuals intercepted were for various violations of the highway safety code. A motorist was also arrested for impaired driving.
“We would like to remind the population that the SPVQ will be present throughout the summer period. […] to enforce the new noise regulations as well as the entire Highway Safety Code,” said Marie-Pier Rivard, spokesperson for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ).
