Johan Nikles (ATP 294) is the only Swiss to have passed the first qualifying round of the Geneva Open. The Genevan signed a performance of choice on the clay courts of the Parc des Eaux-Vives by beating the German Peter Gojowczyk (99), finalist in 2018 in Geneva and 8th runner-up at the last US Open.
Nikles (25) won 6-3 6-3 following 73′ of play once morest the German and will have to beat Czech veteran Lukas Rosol (249/36) to earn his ticket to the final draw.
The only qualified Swiss
The three other representatives of Swiss Tennis involved in these qualifications were beaten in the first round. The disappointment is great for Henri Laaksonen (97), who lost 6-4 6-3 to the Lebanese Benjamin Hassan (327). Jakub Paul (461) was beaten 6-2 6-3 by Lukas Rosol, while Damien Wenger (462) was beaten 6-4 6-2 by Pablo Cuevas (128).
