ÖAustria is lifting all entry rules imposed due to the corona pandemic. From next Monday, 3G proof will no longer be required when entering Austria. Entry is once more possible from all countries in the world without conditions. This emerges from the new entry regulation of the Ministry of Health published on Friday evening. The cancellation was justified by the current epidemiological situation.
The previous rules for virus variant areas officially remain in place, but there is currently no country on the list of so-called virus variant areas. Should a new virus variant emerge, the obligation to test, register and quarantine might be quickly imposed once more for certain countries. The new entry regulation will come into force next Monday.
The travel industry, which had been calling for entry restrictions to be lifted for weeks, responded with satisfaction. “In this way, a massive competitive disadvantage compared to other European destinations might be eliminated – late but nevertheless,” explained the chairman of the WKÖ Association of Travel Agencies, Gregor Kadanka, in a broadcast on Friday evening. The end of the 3-G rule is good news for both incoming tourism and Austrians vacationing abroad.
Until now, 3G was still mandatory when entering the country. Those entering the country had to prove that they were vaccinated, recovered or tested.
