Máximo Kirchner redoubled the criticism against Alberto Fernández: “When you want to drive, you must know how to obey”

Kirchnerism took a few days to return to the charge once morest the Casa Rosada, but following taking a run, it attacked with greater force than ever, although once more, without breaking the Front of All. Tonight, in front of the militancy, in a closed environment with limited capacity but full of flags, the head of La Cámpora, Maximo Kirchner, responded vehemently to Alberto Fernandez and his Minister of Economy, Martin Guzman, who days before had defended the national management, in two interviews, from the harsh criticism of Cristina Kirchner. At first he reminded her that “Anyone who wants to drive must have been driven.” And he reproached the second for the state of the economy despite having “the support of the IMF, of Kristalina Georgieva, of the President, of the main workers’ union, of the social movements and of Clarín”.

From the headquarters of the Podestá club, in the opposition Lanús district of Buenos Aires, Kirchner picked up the gauntlet of the statements that the President had made during his tour of Europe, from which he returns tomorrow. While Alberto Fernández was in full flight over the Atlantic along with related ministers and spokesmen, the camperista leader and president of the provincial PJ once once more demanded that he listen to his space claims and change the economic course: “Our people behave by obeying. When you want to drive, you must know how to obey, and the people rule. And to know how to lead, the leader must have been led, ”he launched, amid cheers from the few fans who had been allowed to enter the small stadium.

It was the first recommendation of several that Máximo made to the Government of which he is a part, but from which he has been distancing himself, out loud, along with other legislators and officials, although without formally distancing himself. “What worries me the most is when the leaders, more than breaking the wave, want to surf it. The wave is not surfed, it breaks, because if not, it gets bigger”, warned. “More than blaming, you have to get on top of the problems. This is going to serve the people, and then, next year, let each citizen vote as they want, ”she insisted.

He delivered the explosive speech exactly one week following Cristina Kirchner’s presentation at the National University of Chaco Austral, in the land of Jorge “Coqui” Capitanich, and adopted the same epic, highly critical, and ironic tone. “We see skateboard leaders in the media, who go with the skateboard, from medium to medium, and manage to be treated well. I don’t know what concessions they will make.” sarcastically slipped the son of the Vice President, referring to the ministers of Alberto Fernández, who during the last days supported the Government in different interviews.

The response to Guzmán, who on Monday gave a detailed justification for his management, was the most sharp and detailed. Together with local leaders, such as Julian Alvarez, and trade unionists, such as the recently re-elected Robert Baradel, Máximo Kirchner took several minutes to describe the decline in the purchasing power of salaries, the main public claim of Kirchnerism to economic management. He then fired back: “I heard the Economy Minister say that he doesn’t have political support. I tell her: you have the support of the IMF and that of Kristalina, of the most important trade union center (the CGT), of the social movements and of the President. How much more support do you want to make things work out?” he told her, unusually directly.

Later he insisted, sharply: “I have not studied abroad (like Guzmán), but I understood that there is a new kind of political discussion. Do you really think that debating ideas causes inflation, and that it is not caused by the functioning of imports and exports?” he questioned.

As usual, the chief camper dedicated a good part of the discursive effort, which lasted 50 minutes, to the government of Mauricio Macri, specifically because of the indebtedness with the IMF. But the main and recurring axis, throughout the entire speech, was Balcarce 50. Although he recognized economic management during the pandemic as positive – once more, responding to the President’s interview with the Spanish newspaper El País-, the bulk of the message was damning. “There was a hyper concentration of income following the pandemic. Our country fell 10 points in 2020. And last year it recovered 10 points. But the thing to understand is the numbers are different. Recovery is not the same said. Guzmán and the rest of the albertista ministers highlight, whenever they have the opportunity, that percentage growth, among other positive data from the macroeconomy, such as the drop in unemployment and the stability of the dollar.

“The drop in participation means that the purchasing power of our people went down, and that of the big companies went up. It’s simple, it’s easy. Guzmán, to everything, says obvious, ”he ironized. And, then, he resumed the request made today by the president of the Chamber of Deputies and head of the Renovating Front, Sergio Massa, to update profits according to inflation, and that the minister endorsed shortly following. “Guzmán says that it was obvious that it had to be done, or that the salary had to be updated, as we proposed a few days ago and it happened. I thank you, but not on my behalf, but for the thousands of workers affected,” he said.

In spite of the evident malaise, which manifested itself in the new onslaught, in Cristina Kirchner’s line, her son seemed to vindicate, once once more, the continuity of the Frente de Todos. I don’t want to run anyone to the left. I want people to do well. That is why we went to build the unit”, he maintained, and immediately followingwards assured, in the face of speculation, that he is not seeking to run for office in the next elections. “This is a contribution, which comes from the desire to debate where we are going. Nothing else”, he finished. Now, once once more, the unknown is open regarding the response of Alberto Fernández, who lands tomorrow in Buenos Aires, and has no defined agenda for the next few days. From what he hinted in dialogues with the journalists who accompanied him on his tour of Spain, Germany and France in recent days, he plans to resist the pressures that order him to eject Guzmán and appoint a minister in accordance with the expectations of Kirchnerism. .
