Long-term sick: companies that make their employees suffer will be punished

The federal government has presented its plan to put the long-term sick back to work.

Half a million workers are currently on sick leave for more than a year in Belgium. For the federal government, it is urgent to reduce this figure which is greater than the number of unemployed Belgians. The whole difficulty is knowing how to do it, knowing that a large part of these long-term patients suffer from burnout, a delicate illness to treat, the cases of which have multiplied with the Covid crisis.

For the Minister of Health and Social Affairs, the solution lies in empowering both workers and their employers.
