An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded this Thursday in Peru at 4:55 p.m. (local time), according to data from the country’s National Seismological Center.
The epicenter of the telluric movement, which had a depth of 49 kilometers, was located 30 km from the district of Chilca, in the department of Lima.
According to photos spread on social networks, the earthquake caused a landslide in the Costa Verde area.

The Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation of the Peruvian Navy confirmed that the tremor has not generated a tsunami alert on the country’s coasts.
For his part, the councilor of the Municipality of Lima, Carlo Ángeles, wrote on his Twitter account that he had also been informed of “possible landslides in Bajada Balta.”
