In a month, Saint George will face the Dragon on the Grand Place in Mons. And there is no question for the people of Mons to miss it… Especially following 2 years spent without Doudou. Tickets go on sale this Thursday morning at Mons Town Hall and it’s safe to say locals rushed in droves to get theirs.
In just one month, Saint George will face the Dragon on the Grand Place in Mons. A highly anticipated event for the people of Mons, especially following two years of pandemic marked by the cancellation of the Doudou.
Tickets to attend the so-called “Lumeçon” fight in the stands are on sale this Thursday morning at the Mons town hall. The sale will start at 8 a.m. and yet the Montois have already been there for several hours. Françoise, for example, arrived at 5:30 p.m. yesterday. She spent the night in front of the town hall, on her well-wrapped chair. When we interviewed her, she was on the porch, right at the entrance to City Hall. “We are Montois or we are notshe said, more motivated than ever to get her places. The night was great with all the knowledge from each year, since I have been using this system for several years to be able to have my places on the stands on Doudou Sunday.

But this is the first time this year that Françoise has arrived so early. “After two years without a blanket, given the covid… I thought we were going to go as a family very early to be sure to have the places”she says.
In all, 266 seats are on sale. But only 133 people will be able to take advantage of it, since it is a maximum of two places per person. And yet, the Montois were much more than 133 this Thursday morning in front of the town hall… It must be said that these are the best places to observe the fight, and also the most expensive!
The Ducasse festivities will run from June 8 to 19.
