Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media circulated a video clip of CNN presenter Christiane Amanpour, and what she said regarding the killing of Al-Jazeera journalist Sherine Abu Aqleh.
In the circulating video, Amanpour said: “Let’s take a moment to honor Al Jazeera journalist Sherine Abu Okla who was killed while covering Al Jazeera in the occupied West Bank, despite wearing a jacket that clearly shows that she is a member of the press. Crowds mourning her death are evidence of the respect she received from viewers.” And from colleagues, she was loved by many Palestinians for her emotional reporting on their lives..”
In the video clip, which was republished by Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Rumaihi, Director General of Qatar News Agency, on his Twitter page, Amanpour continued: “She joined Al-Jazeera at the age of 26. Abu Aqila spent more than 20 years in the network. Not long ago, I spoke What it means to be a journalist.
She added, “Al Jazeera’s producer was also injured but his condition is stable. Now, even in death, however, there is still a dispute.. Al Jazeera says that Sherine was shot by Israeli forces in those occupied territories. The Israeli army says, it is not possible to determine the direction in which He shot her and they launched an investigation.”
