I hinted European Central Bank President Christine LagardeThe possibility of raising interest rates in the eurozone during the month of July.
Lagarde said the European Central Bank should end its bond-buying program early in the third quarter, so it can raise interest rates.
Lagarde’s comments coincided with expectations of the President of the Dutch Central Bank, Frank Elderson, for a gradual increase in interest rates starting next July, provided that the asset purchase program would be halted as soon as possible.
For his part, the President of the French Central Bank, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, suggested raising interest rates next July, indicating the possibility of a return to the inflation rate in the euro area to regarding 2% in 2024.
