Lustenau sponsor pays bus for FC Wacker

Austria Lustenau is doing everything possible to ensure that Wacker Innsbruck ends the season in the 2nd football league properly. As the Vorarlbergers announced on Wednesday, a sponsor from the club environment will cover the bus costs for the trip of the financially ailing Tyroleans to the away game in St. Pölten.

If Wacker can’t play Dornbirn at home in the final rounds on Friday or May 22nd, it would put a severe damper on Lustenau’s promotion ambitions.

Lustenau fears for his promotion

In the event of Wacker’s early withdrawal from the championship, Innsbruck’s previous games would be cancelled. Lustenau and the current pursuer FAC would be tied on points. The decisive criterion in this case would be the direct comparison, in which the Floridsdorfer have the edge – a scenario that Lustenau wants to prevent at all costs.

“Of course we hope that the season will be decided on the field in terms of sport,” said board spokesman Bernd Bösch in a statement. He denied a report in the “Tiroler Tageszeitung” that Austria would pay for Wacker’s bus ride. “Austria will not make any payments to other clubs,” said Bösch.

FC Wacker shortly before the end

At Wacker, meanwhile, the end of the professional GmbH is getting closer. On Sunday, a deadline from the Tyrolean regional health insurance fund, which had initially deferred outstanding payments to the indebted club, expires. According to media reports, a donor has not yet been found. Bankruptcy might therefore be filed as early as Monday – more on this in Wacker Innsbruck stops professional operations.

However, filing for bankruptcy before the last round of the season would not mean that the game once morest Dornbirn would be canceled, as the club said. Savings would still have to be made: the game once morest Dornbirn might mutate into a ghost game in order to save on security expenses, for example. The VIP Club was recently closed. In the background, Wacker is fighting to save the club’s amateur division, including the youth and women’s sections.

St. Pölten there and back

Wacker makes the trip to St. Pölten by day trip. On the day of the game we go to Lower Austria and return immediately following the game. The FAC will take on the fourth SV Lafnitz on Friday. If the Viennese points drop, Lustenau would be the champion with a win in the parallel game at SV Horn according to the current status.
