May 2022 Patch Tuesday brings Windows 11 Cumulative Update KB5013943. It closes dozens of security vulnerabilities and fixes bugs. We also have a little novelty.
KB5013943 targets PCs running Windows 11. It is offered through the Windows Update service. You can also retrieve it manually through the portal Microsoft Update Catalog.
Its installation allows the OS to evolve in version 22000.675. This number is important because it is a quick and easy way to ensure that the process was successful. To find it, just run “winver.exe” in “Run” (WIN+R).
KB5013943 and Windows 11, what’s new?
Being part of Patch Tuesday one of the focus is security. We find the correction of 44 vulnerabilities, 6 of which are considered critical. CVE-2022-21972 et CVE-2022-23270 allow remote code execution linked to the “Point-to-Point Tunneling” protocol while CVE-2022-26931 allows elevation of privilege in Windows Kerberos. From his side CVE-2022-26923 is also an elevation of privilege vulnerability. It affects Active Directory Domain Services. CVE-2022-26937 is a remote code execution vulnerability in the Windows Network File System and CVE-2022-22017 is a remote code execution flaw in the Remote Desktop client.
We have a little novelty. The temperature now displays above the weather icon in the taskbar.
Several issues around video subtitles have been fixed (partial cutoff and problematic alignment) as well as a bug preventing the use of the minimize, maximize and close buttons of maximized application windows. Among the many other fixes we can note the resolution of a memory leak problem which affects Windows systems used 24 hours a day every day of the week. Microsoft explains that it has also fixed a problematic but fortunately very rare bug. It is the cause of a blocking of Windows 11. The boot stops at the start screen for tens of minutes.
Finally we have the resolution of failures related to the functionalities of the trusted platform module (TPM) and concerns with the DHCP protocol (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) and a bug at the origin of a failure of the authentication Kerberos.

They are normally corrected but let’s be careful. Microsoft says it has fixed an issue causing some .NET Framework 3.5 applications to fail. The affected software uses optional .NET Framework 3.5 components, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components. The second long-awaited patch addresses a bug with safe mode that can cause display issues. They concern elements such as File Explorer, the Start menu or the taskbar
