Filipino presidential election, surely overwhelming victory of the eldest son of the late Marcos-Bloomberg

Former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. (64) is sure to win the Philippine presidential election on the 9th. At a ballot counting rate of 95%, Marcos won regarding 30.3 million votes, with a vote counting rate of 56.5%. Vice President Robledo received regarding 14.4 million votes and a 26.9% vote rate, a big difference.

Marcos is the eldest son of the late former President Marcos, who led a long-term dictatorship. Thirty-six years following the ex-president’s departure from the country, the Marcos family will be reinstated in Filipino politics.

Marcos’ victory is expected to bring some continuity to the Philippines, but there are big questions regarding how he will run the administration. Although he has indicated that he will inherit President Duterte’s policies, it is unclear how to deal with decades of investigations into the Marcos family’s assets, US-China relations and economic policies.
