Al-Ahly defeats Al-Ittihad in the second Super League final

Al-Ahly team won the second match of the final round of the Basketball Super League following defeating Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, 73-60, on Tuesday evening.

The Basketball Super League final series between Al-Ahly and Al-Ittihad will be held at Hassan Mustafa Hall in 6th of October City.

The Al-Ittihad team had settled the first confrontation once morest Al-Ahly in the “BEST OF 5” series, following winning (86-77), before the Red Devils won the second meeting today, with a score of 73-60.

The third match between the two teams in the Basketball Super League final series is scheduled for next Thursday, May 12th.

The Basketball Super League final series will be held using the Playoff system (Best of 5), where the winning team of three matches wins the championship title.

Match details

The match started on a hot plate between the two teams, which witnessed a convergence in the number of points throughout the first period.

The first period did not see any of the two teams outperform the other, as it ended in a 13-13 tie.

In the second period, Al-Ahly imposed its control at the beginning, advancing with a score of (23-19).

Al-Ittihad coach requested a time-out when Al-Ahly was leading by 26-24 and gave his players some instructions.

Al-Ittihad following the time-out managed to advance 29-26 following mistakes by Al-Ahly players, which made coach Augusti Bosch request a time-out.

Seconds following the return of play, the Al-Ittihad coach returned and requested a time-out at the 24th second of the second period, and the result was still 29-26 in favor of the gap leader.

Before the end of the second period, Al-Ahly reduced the difference to 29-28 in favor of Al-Ittihad of Alexandria.

In the third period, Al-Ahly made a strong performance and succeeded in advancing at the expense of the leader of the gap with a score of 40-36, but Al-Ittihad returned and advanced with a score of 41-40.

The match ignited and the red team advanced once more with a score of 50-44, and the Al-Ittihad coach requested a time-out.

And the Red Devils continued to excel until the difference was 9 points, and the third period ended in their favour, with a score of 54-45.

In the fourth period, Al-Ahly maintained the lead until the score became 59-54, and here Ahmed Marei, Al-Ittihad coach, asked for a time-out.

The red team continued its brilliance and succeeded in moving away with the result until it became 71-55.

Al-Ahly succeeded in ending the fourth period and the match by defeating Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, 73-60, in the Super Basketball League final series.
