This award was presented to Societe Generale Morocco during the ‘EBRD Sustainability Awards 2022’, an event dedicated to sustainability held on the sidelines of the 31st General Assembly of the EBRD, whose work began on May 10 in Marrakech. on the theme “Meeting Challenges in a Turbulent World”.
On this occasion, François Marchal, CEO of Societe Generale Morocco, recalled that “sustainability is at the heart of our strategy. We deploy it both at the level of our activity and our customer portfolio, and this to contribute to the reduction of the environmental footprint”.
“The aspect that we want to accelerate is supporting our customers in energy transition and sustainable development”, he indicated.
The support of the ‘Green Value Chain’ system, set up by the bank, has made it possible to strengthen the resilience, competitiveness, as well as the sustainability of the growth of several dozen Moroccan SMEs, through the financing of projects relating to energy efficiency, renewable energies and the adoption of technologies that mitigate the effects of climate change and help to prepare for the increasingly strict regulations in this area in the main world markets.
For the construction of a sustainable Moroccan economy with low carbon emissions and resilient to climate change, Societe Generale Morocco intends to strengthen this dynamic. through a series of initiatives in 2022.
The Bank had moreover signed, in February 2022, a new financial agreement with the EBRD, worth of 25 million euros, relating to a new line of financing ‘Green Energy Financing Facility’ for the benefit of Moroccan companies.
