When we hear regarding the most dangerous fish, the first thing that comes to our mind is sharks, but there are fish that are more dangerous and cause danger to human life.
The Ministry of Health and Population issued a warning to citizens of the dangers of eating or fishing the “toxic shark”, which some have circulated in the markets during the last period.
In the report, we review the most dangerous fish, as reported by the wellngood website.
– catfish
One of the most poisonous fish and also classified as the second most poisonous vertebrate in the world, the poison responsible for classifying this fish very high in the danger zone is called “tetrodotoxin”, which is a neurotoxic substance and inhibits neurotransmission, leading to weakness, paralysis and even death. In relatively low concentrations, this toxin is found in fish liver, ovaries, intestines, and skin.
stone fish
They often resemble cobblestones (hence the name), fuse easily into their natural habitat, shed their venom through a row of thorns on their backs, and expel venom involuntarily when the fish is stressed.
Residing in the Indo-Pacific and northern Australia, a single bite of this fish can cause severe pain, rapid swelling, tissue death, muscle weakness, temporary paralysis and, in very rare cases, death.
Lionfish
The lionfish was thought to be the most venomous fish until recent years, but these conspicuous fish have covered dorsal, anal, and pelvic spines. The sting of this fish can cause severe pain, swelling and, in very severe cases, cardiovascular collapse.
Most lionfish live naturally in the Indian and Pacific oceans.
Ray fish
It is one of the most common groups of fish responsible for human poisoning, in large part because many of them bury themselves on the sea floor where people unintentionally trample them, and are primarily cardiotoxic.
Box fish
Much like a stingray, while not as venomous as a puffer fish, this fish has a great way to defend itself with venom. When threatened, it secretes a toxin from specialized skin cells into the water, poisoning the marine life in its vicinity. .
