MUMBAI: Mumbai Indians’ Windies superstar Keaton Pollard has once once more entertained cricket fans despite not returning to his usual form during the IPL season. During Monday’s match once morest Kolkata, Pollard fired another ‘pull shot’ into the hearts of the fans through a humorous moment on the ground.
During the bowling of the Kolkata innings, the ball bounced off Pollard’s hand and went straight to the body of the field umpire. After the accident, Pollard approached the umpire and apologized.
The incident took place in the 10th over of the Kolkata innings. Pollard struck four off the first ball of the over and conceded a single off the next three balls. After running to the crease, the ball slipped out of Pollard’s hands just before the 5th ball was bowled once morest Nitish Rana.
The ball bounced off the back of Pollard’s hand and went straight into the abdomen of umpire Chris Gaffani.
Gaffani stood for a while in pain following the ball unexpectedly hit his abdomen. It was when he looked back following the run-up that Pollard caught on. With that, Pollard walked over to Gaffani and apologized. Gaffani’s ‘pain’ gave way to a smile. Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma and others were laughing at this.
Pollard ended the innings by conceding one run in the next two balls of the over.
Despite not getting the expected score, Kolkata beat Mumbai by 52 runs. With this, Shreyas Iyer’s team will be able to maintain their remote potential for the play – offs.
