Meta opens its first “physical” retail store in California

Meta, the owner of the Facebook platform, opened on Monday its first physical store on the ground, specifically in the city of Burlingame, in the San Francisco Bay area in the US state of California.

The Associated Press said that the company opened its first store, to display its products from devices such as virtual and augmented reality glasses, in addition to smart glasses it produces with Ray-Ban.

The store was opened to the public who may want to try the company’s products from different glasses, video communication device (Portal), and virtual reality headsets.

The hardware, with the exception of Ray-Ban glasses, will be available for purchase directly from the store.

Meta is trying to expand and develop the world of “Metaverse”, which was announced last year by the founder of the company, Mark Zuckerberg, and then referred to the idea of ​​using avatar images of people (avatars) in this world, that can completely match everything they do in the real world, such as going in A trip, a concert, or a business meeting, which is expected to be the next big leap in the evolution of the Internet.

The company is seeking to increase its profits, following it recorded profits below expectations during the end of the last quarter of last year.
