5 helicopters in action: train accident in Austria – one dead and at least 3 seriously injured

In Austria, a person died in a train accident near Vienna. As the authorities reported, a train in the Mödling district derailed early Monday evening. Two wagons overturned. According to the Red Cross, three people were seriously injured and nine others were slightly injured.

About 100 uninjured passengers were taken to a disaster relief center. Numerous helpers and four emergency helicopters were deployed in the Munich village area to rescue the victims. No information was initially available regarding the cause of the accident. A spokesman for the emergency service 144 told heute.at: “The situation was initially very confusing. One dead, three seriously injured and eight slightly injured is the current status. Now the data will be collected and then evaluated by the police overnight.”

According to ÖBB, no journeys are currently possible due to an accident between Wampersdorf Bahnhof and Achau – the duration of the interruption is still unknown. ÖBB cannot say more regarding the accident, as it affects an external company. The Raaber Bahn has its headquarters in Sopron (Hungary), there are branches in Vienna and in Wulkaprodersdorf.
