Longueuil: an elderly lady burned in her apartment

An elderly woman was found seriously burned in her home in Longueuil, on the South Shore of Montreal, overnight from Sunday to Monday.

The fire started shortly before midnight in the apartment of a building located on rue Caroline, near rue Saint-Laurent Ouest.

When firefighters arrived, they found a lady in her 70s with second and third degree burns that covered almost 90% of her body.

She was conscious and was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

According to the information that the lady would have given to the firefighters, she would have fallen asleep with a cigarette in her hand. This would later have fallen on his clothes which burned.

The other residents of the building were evacuated, but none of them were injured. “Everyone was able to return to their homes,” said the head of operations for the Longueuil agglomeration security service.
